Fanny
This is a painting that encompasses all that I love of what I envision of what I imagine Victorian life was like in the the Gilded Age. I started with my main subject, which I named, Fanny. I looked at Victorian clothing, including hats, in old photos. I created everything from my own thoughts to make her clothing from inspiration online. I did see a totally different hat with hydrangias in it, and because they are one of my favorite flowers, I chose to make that the centerpiece of her hat. And I looked at parasols. They could be anything from simple to fancy. I chose more simple, with the implication of lace. I have her seated at a period table on a terrace, with a sloped cobblestone road, and a stone fence. There is a partial image of a period home in the corner, which the walkway looks like it leads up to, and I even put in partial gas street lights, which are off to the right and behind her parasol. The couple walking below, are drawn without a lot of detail, because they are small indicating the view point. There is a video on my Tiktok page that shows my painting process, which I should include, was painted in paint marker on canvas.
