Mourning Garden
I recently painted a denim jacket with fabric markers, and with no other project to use them on, I wondered how well they would hold up on canvas. I painted a canvas black with acrylics, and on a day I came home early from work from being sick with bronchitis, I decided the only thing I really wanted to do was art. I started this with no path or thoughts about what I the plan was, but as I drew, starting with the Death's Head Hawk Moth, and then the lace, it then came to me. I was going to add poison flowers. Every flower in my drawing has a level of toxicity. I finished the drawing with colored antique bottles on the top. I went around the edge of almost all the elements to give it a little bit of a stained glass style, but also to bring out each individual color. The result was very pleasing to me. I hope you will like it, too. I call it the Mourning Garden.
